"Um, Santa is naked..."-Mary
I got a new job! I'm a lab analysis intern for the Wastewater Treatment Plant!
Matt and I are going to be Hogwarts students for Halloween this year. I am trying to find a pattern for some robes, but it's turning out to be quite a challenge. Does anyone know if such a pattern exists? At this point, my thoughts are turning fabric from a wonderful robe into a poncho-esque thing. This is wrong for a few reasons:
1. In the books, the robes definitely have a front opening.
2. They also have inner and outer pockets.
3. They also have sleeves.
Hmmm... any ideas? I am not a seamstress, but I can follow directions pretty well.
Example: When God led the Israelites out of Egypt, they were thankful for awhile, but they became bored and forgot about God's act of mercy on them, instead desiring a new and improved situation. However, in Hosea God laments Israel's inability and unwillingmess to change her whore-ish ways.
Are we more likely to become bored and want something new and fresh, or are we more likely to want to stick to what is familiar and easy, even if thosecharacteristics are toxic to our well-being?
Or is it that we want new and fresh things from our environment and the people aound us, but we don't want to have to change ourselves in the process?
I want to hear y'all's opinion on this.
Sorry it's been awhile since my last post.
Vet school apps still make me want to cry.
From asking (literally) nonsensical questions, to having a website that only works 1/2 of the time, to costing just about 1000 dollars to apply, to having EVERY SINGLE SCHOOL want a different supplemental thing, or a different order, or a different prerequisite.
Breathe, Jeni.
Pray for me. And all the applicants. Especially the ones whose city (or whose vet school) is underwater.
I'm pretty sure that it is the Best Poem I've EVER Done.

As I was driving down to have b-fast with Gravy and Jazzy this morning, I noticed that Matt had left his iPod in the car. I figured out how to turn it on with it's radio tuner dealie, and was happily listening to Cake. One of the songs off their newest album is called "Take It All Away". I had heard this song a few times, and was always amused by this line:
"Take your economy car and your suitcase,
Take your psycho little dogs"
I assumed, like many Cake songs, that this was a song about social class or politics.
Today, I listened to the whole song, and these are the lyrics:
You keep pushing me away
In spite of what you say
I found out yesterday
That I've been wasting all my time
Trying to make you smile
Trying to make this seem worth...
While you've been pushing me around
In spite of what I do
Trying to make things good for...
You take your economy car and your suitcase
Take your psycho little dogs
Take it all away
You've been racing through my mind
You're picking up in speed
You're driving recklessly
It's like a car crash happening on my street
Broken bodies at my feet
And sirens on the way
They're too late
'Cause nobody's going to save us
We're a rubbernecker's dream
We're burning gasoline
Go take your economy car and your suitcase
Take your psycho little dogs
Take it all away
And go
Go ahead and destroy this
Better come with an army
Are you feeling feeling okay baby?
Na-na-na-na-na-na
Take your economy car and your suitcase
Take your psycho little dogs
Take it all away
Sad.
