    Apologies vs. Excuses
    0 pathogens detected
I have decided that apologies may only be worthwhile if they are not accompanied by an explanation of the offending action.

"I'm sorry I insulted you." That seems much more contrite than "I'm sorry I insulted you, it's just that when you blah blah, it makes me blah blah, and then I got angry and then I insulted you."

When one expounds upon an apology in such a way, it makes me feel like what they are really saying is not "I'm sorry", but "I'm not sorry but I think you may have misunderstood the reason for my offense."

    This is just my opinion.
