Apologies vs. Excuses
0 pathogens detected
I have decided that apologies may only be worthwhile if they are not accompanied by an explanation of the offending action."I'm sorry I insulted you." That seems much more contrite than "I'm sorry I insulted you, it's just that when you blah blah, it makes me blah blah, and then I got angry and then I insulted you."
When one expounds upon an apology in such a way, it makes me feel like what they are really saying is not "I'm sorry", but "I'm not sorry but I think you may have misunderstood the reason for my offense."
This is just my opinion.

I got this from Phantom Scribbler (I'll pretend that she tagged me. Ooh, I got tagged by a fabulous and respected blogger!). You are supposed to go to this page and pick out 5 random quotes that reflect... you? I think that's how it goes.On why I am not active in sports:
"To play it safe is not to play." Robert Altman
On why I've skipped class to go on vet calls:
"I have never let my schooling interfere with my education." Mark Twain
On why I wear earplugs:
"A marriage is always made up of two people who are prepared to swear that only the other one snores." Terry Pratchett
On why I was unpopular with some at Whitworth:
"The problem with intelligent design theory is not that it is false but that it is not falsifiable: Not being susceptible to contradicting evidence, it is not a testable hypothesis. Hence it is not a scientific but a creedal tenet." George F. Will
On why my family always wins the arguments:
"Against logic there is no armor like ignorance." Laurence J. Peter
On why I'll be successful in practice:
"If you cannot convince them, confuse them." Harry S Truman
On reasons for my geekiness:
"I am among those who think that science has great beauty. A scientist in his laboratory is not only a technician: he is also a child placed before natural phenomena which impress him like a fairy tale." Marie Curie
Wheee!

Notice the new blog listed on the sidebar as "The Newlyweds". Check them out, because I love them. And because I haven't bought them a wedding gift yet, so I'll give them that gift that keeps on giving, site traffic.

Thanks for all your love, guys.I recieved birthday cards from mom, dad, and nana today. I guess they sent them early to make up for forgetting my birthday last year. We also recieved the first package from Mary (posters). Yay, Mary!
Not too much has been going on today. Just trying to set up a bank account and such. I am at The Forest, a vegetarian alternative cafe-ish thing. I am sitting at a table with 6 Scottish guys who are very friendly, eating enormous portions, and are of dubious moral integrity.
Cheers!
