So yesterday, when I was making a grilled cheese sandwich, I accidentally set the pan to 5 instead of 3. While I was slicing cheese, I smelled smoke and looked over just in time to see the olive oil in the pan catch on fire!Thankfully, I remembered enough of my babysitting safety course, oh, 10 years ago that I knew what to do. I covered the fire in the pan, turned off the heat, and moved the pan to a cold burner. Then I ate an ungrilled cheese sandwich for lunch.
Today, when driving to Planned Parenthood to replenish my free birth control, I happened to look to my right at a light just in time to see a young woman throw a lit cigarette into a trashcan! I was as surprised by her act as the police officer driving directly behind me, I think.
Anyone else want to set some fires?

Last night I was sitting near a fireplace and had eaten 4 bean burritos from Taco Bell and suddenly there was a flash of light and my pants got really hot in the rear.

i definitely started a fire in my kitchen last week. it smelled like burning-of-foreign-substance-trapped-under-the-burner. we should clean that up.

you know, Mary, I hear this internet thing is catching on, even in far away and glorious lands. As for the fires, I'm still living under the oppressive regime of dorm rules, so no fire for me. I can't even have a toaster or a microwave, and my hot pot is probably illegal. I'd probably get arrested if someone (who, I don't know because noone actually enforces any of these so-called rules)came in and found that I've left my hair dryer on the floor.
