Wow, a Post of My Very Own
5 pathogens detected
For some reason, I haven't really felt like writing anything. I've been pretty depressed lately, and very busy, which I think is a bad combination for the ol' blog. In addition, two of my favorite bloggers up and left the party. So I think to myself, "Yankee and Corndog were way better writers than I am. If they didn't feel like they had anything to contribute, why should I feel like I do?"Matt and I went to Montana this weekend. It was a really fun trip, except for the reason we went was not fun at all. But Matt learned how to dirt bike, and we all went out and played in the fields (Lacey and I rode ATVs, Matt and Scott rode bikes), resulting in much laughter and sunburns. We also went to these really cool caves, drove to Flathead lake to visit Seth, went canoeing, etc. We are exhausted!
Anyway, I don't know how much longer this blog will last. It might be awhile, it might not. I need to think up some fresh ideas, or else it won't be very long. Any thoughts on what you'd like to hear from me?
In other news, I am trying to put together a new website that will chronicle Matt and my experiences at the University of Edinburgh. I'll let you know when it's up.

Why Every Cookbook is Incomplete
5 pathogens detected
We recieved many cookbooks for our wedding. Joy of Cooking, The New Basics, Essentials of Italian Cooking, The First and Forever Newlywed Cookbook, The Cake Mix Doctor, and two of the Williams-Sonoma guides (one on soups and one on salads). I've also picked up a few that have become favorites, like Jewish Cooking: A Complete Guide. When I get a wild hair to cook something I've never cooked before, I always open the cookbooks first. Lasagna? Here's 4 recipes to get me started. Kugel? 3 or 4 recipes are sure to follow. Cakes, cookies, bread? More than I can find time to cook! I usually cook the dish more or less according to the recipe, then eat it and adjust to my tastes the next time around.
But oh, how my cookbooks have failed me this past week! First, I heard about an intriguing casserole using tater ots and onions (shut up, it sounds good to me). However, a search through the cookbooks revealed NO casserole recipes. What?!!? Casseroles practically define American eating! But alas! that was nothing compared to what I discovered today.
There wasn't a single recipe for cinnamon rolls in any of the cookbooks. Even Joy only had a recipe for sticky buns, which Ican't eat due to the caramel factor. I finally rigged together a recipe out of te Joy one and some common sense, but the jury's still out on how they will taste.
Sigh. "You made me believe that magic could happen to anybody."

[Some] Facts in [Some] Days: Fact 15

I used to own a horse named Chester. Well, his registered name was Energy Rail, but that was a dumb name. He liked eating spicy nacho doritos and the very occasional chicken nugget. Actually, he liked eating everything, which probably led to him having colic and me selling my first car to pay for his surgery. He was pretty freakin' cute, though, and his eyebrows wrinkled up whenever he was anxious. Some of my best memories are of me laying on him backards (i.e., my elbows propped up on his butt and my feet hooked over his neck) reading a book while he munched on hay.Chester also had amazing skills as an escape artist. He could (and would) undo every latch I put on his stall, then undo the latch of Czar (his buddy) and the two of them would sneak out of the barn and into the feed shed. I finally foiled him by using a jumbo paper clip around his latch, which he couldn't figure out. He got so mad the first night I used one of these on his stall that he kicked his hay feeder and water bucket both into pieces, then chewed Czar's tail off through the rails. (Czar was always down for having his tail chewed).

Did I Mention I Like Memes?
1 pathogens detected
From Anastasia, a meme in search of itself.I am exhausted
I want to read a really good book
I wish we had housing in Scotland
I hate feeling cold
I love Matt, and dark chocolate
I miss owning a horse
I fear missing out on important things in life
I hear our washing machine
I wonder if people thing I'm annoying
I regret hurting people
I am not motivated to houseclean
I dance in the car while singing loudly
I sing better than I used to, but still not well
I cry over silly things
I am not always selfish
I make with my hands good food, and scarves
I write less than I ought
I confuse myself and those around me
I need to work on getting in shape
I should also finish the dishes
I start each day wishing I could sleep more
I finish the Spokane chapter of my life too soon
I tag everyone
