Ah, friday. it has been a long week, to say the least. why is it that every time i try to take an "easier" schedule, it winds up to be even more work for me? maybe i am just exceptionally good at choosing the least convienient courseload, or something. ANyway, i have three reading-intensive classes (2 lit courses and core), which means that my eyes may fall out of my head by the end of the semester. i dont mind too much though, since i suppose their could be worse things than reading a lot. my bike is officially broken, and i just dont have the cash flow to change that, so jeni is a walking fiend for awhile. tomorrow the z and i are going to look at aparments for next year. wahooey! back to the studying...

so, matt left today. sigh. it's okay, though, it wont be very long until we see each other again... anyway, i ate a very heavy, icky saga dinner tonight, and i think my stomach wishes that i wouldnt have. i finally finished deep river. it was very good, and i think you should read it. "me?" you ask? yes, you. i am supposed to be writing an essay on the book right now, but i think laundry and sleep might happen instead. im thinking about dropping hebrew, which makes me very sad, since i am the one who petitioned for the course in the first place. however, it is just going to involve a lot of memorization, something that has been very hard for me since inverting myself on my bike last month. if i did that, i would only be taking 14 credits, which might put me in the "slacker" group (in the eyes of the gp's, that is). im going to talk to the prof tomorrow, so maybe he will be able to figure something out for me. i was thinking about picking up principles of chem 2, but since it isnt required for my major, maybe i wont take it. im so excited that i got a job in the chem department!!! i still dont know what im doing, but i will find that out tomorrow. i really hope that i am a ta/ grader for all the organic chem 1 folk, but if not, i would love to be a lab ta for bioorganic or maybe even ochem 2. what i dont want is to be a stockroom worker, but i would take it if thats all they offer me. wow, its even weird to me how excited i am. as my envicro prof would say, "Jenevieve is what we call a 'science nerd.'" he made that comment after i was able to instantly identify the ebola virus (inc. strain) on his powerpoint slide. ah, the life of a science chick. alright, i had best get to work studying... alep, bet, gimel, dalet, he, waw, zayin, het, tet, yod, kap, lamed, mem, nun, samek, ayin, pe, sade, qop, res, sin, sin, taw... yeah, i think thats all 23...

Well, apparently I am not immune. I finally came down with the stomach flu. I may have gotten it from Matt, or from my nephews, or any number of other sources. Luckily, it only was in full swing for about a day and a half, so this morning I think I might actually eat something! Yay! I had to miss the first Brit Lit after 1800 class yesterday, but that was the only class I missed, and I think Leonard Oakland will understand. He's a nice guy. On an up note, I am about 1/2way done with the first Core book, called
Deep River
. Core is this Whit-class that is required for all students. Actually It is 3 classes, 150, 250, and 350. You are supposed to take 150 your freshman year, but science majors cant do it until later because required science courses are at the same time. Yet another reason I think that Whitworth is discriminating against the science department... oh, well. I had better go brush my teeth, since Matt will be here soon!

Well, today was the first day of classes! Normally I would have an 8:00 environmental micro lab, but that doesnt start until next week, so I just had a leadership meeting and radio class. it was really a stressful day, let me tell you. i also bought most of my books today, and biked with Lacey over to subway for dinner. i have really enjoyed having matt here with me, though i've been so busy getting stuff together for school that ive only gotten to really hang out with him a little. tonight we have a "hang out date", and i am excited to just sit and talk with him for awhile. i am so pumped for tomorrow! i have environmental microbiology (envicro?) at 8:15, then core 150, then brit lit after 1800. i would have hebrew, but the prof is out of town until thursday, so there will be no hebrew until friday. i also have piano on thursday, along with a core discussion group. all in all, it should be a fun semester! alright, i need to continue the room cleaning, then have a meeting with my fellow mc's.
